Help Build a New Group Study Room at Shields Library
Shields Library is voted the “Best Place to Study” in The California Aggie’s student survey year after year. And each year, The Aggie notes the “many different rooms and areas to fit everyone’s needs” as a key reason UC Davis students love their library so much.
But no space is as consistently in demand as the handful of Group Study Rooms at Shields Library. In particular, students flock to the two study rooms that have recently been renovated, thanks to donor support, with wifi-enabled flat screens to facilitate teamwork on group projects and class presentations.
While the COVID-19 public health emergency has required the library to close its doors temporarily, we must look ahead and know that the current crisis will eventually pass. And when it does, our students will return, and collaboration and face-to-face group learning will again be an important part of their academic experience.
As the UC Davis student body grows, and group projects become more common as class assignments, the library must adapt to their changing needs —and put every square foot to work.
That’s why, this Give Day, we’re inviting you to help us transform an old copier area into a new Group Study Room.
The Class of 2020 loved the idea so much that they kickstarted the fundraising for the new study room as their Senior Class Gift. Now it’s time to take the effort across the finish line.
Join us, and the Class of 2020, in helping build a new Group Study Room at Shields Library!
