Undergraduate Education
Support undergraduate learning today!

Undergraduate Education is making sure UC Davis offers the best education available at a public research university.  We’re advancing educational equity, enhancing the graduation pathway, and advocating for excellence in teaching and learning. Our programs offer leadership skills, small seminars, research connections, intercultural friendships, and the chance to study in Washington, DC, and Sacramento.

This Give Day, we are featuring three initiatives:

No student should struggle when crisis hits. The Stegura-Vanden Bos Family Award can provide immediate relief to meet critical needs from food and rent to textbooks and computers. Nearly half of our students among the first in their family to attend college. As they navigate the complex territory of higher education, they’re often balancing a full plate of family obligations at the same time. FirstGen alumna Debby Stegura hopes to inspire others to support students in need. With 10 gifts to this challenge, $2,500 will be activated on Give Day!

The University Honors Program cultivates diverse, interdisciplinary thinkers with the public service commitment and leadership skills to tackle the world’s most difficult problems. This year, we honor our alumni who have gone on to careers in public health, medicine, and all fields contributing to the global good. Professor Emeritus Jay Mechling and former program director, Professor Jim Shackelford, are challenging Program alumni and friends to support Honors at UC Davis by making a gift. If we receive 20 gifts, we will unlock a $2,500 pledge!

Doing research with a faculty mentor is one of the most valuable experiences undergraduates can have at UC Davis. Summer research experiences are a critical pathway to careers in academic research and industry, but many undergraduate research positions aren’t paid. Because first gen students often share financial responsibility for supporting their families, doing summer research without funding is out of their reach.  Steve and Hilarie McAdams have a challenge to support funding for research positions for UC Davis students. Help us secure this $10,000 donation and kick start our FirstGen Initiative Program Support Fund.
