Thousands of UC Davis students come to the library every day. They come to use GIS workstations and specialized mathematics software. They learn advanced data analysis techniques like text mining from library experts. They access academic journals and course reserves, conduct research, and watch documentaries — all online.
As the hub of academic life at UC Davis, we, at the library, hear students’ requests for the technology they need to help them study, do research and succeed in their classes.
As the library transforms to meet students’ needs in the digital age, that includes providing them with technology tools — big and small — that help close the digital divide and give every student the opportunity to succeed.
Students can already check out scientific calculators, headphones, chargers, and electronic clickers to respond to professors’ questions — as well as books — at the library’s Circulation Desk. Group study rooms are being renovated with wifi-enabled screens that students can use for collaborative teamwork. And the vision for future renovations includes cutting-edge tools for data visualization, experiential learning and digital scholarship.
This Give Day, you can help us take the next step by providing students with one of the most in-demand technology tools they are asking for every day: charging stations for the digital devices that power their education.
Join us in helping give our students the tools they need to succeed!
