Undergraduate Education is dedicated to ensuring that UC Davis students fully participate in the dynamic intellectual life of our research university through advocacy and programs that enhance the learning experience. Through our programs, students can intern in Washington, DC, learn leadership skills, take small seminars in their first year, discover research opportunities, and make intercultural friendships.
This Give Day, we are featuring two initiatives:
Our FirstGen Initiative celebrates and advocates for the 45% of our undergraduates who are leading the way to college education for their families and communities, as well as the accomplishments of our 400+ first-generation faculty. Our program has developed special seminars, a mentorship database, and a community of faculty and staff addressing the first gen experience. We’re developing new ways to support students including funding for research, internships, and special programs and summer opportunities, including our new pre-matriculation Transfer Edge.
The University Honors Program is among the most diverse in the nation. Our four-year program gives high-performing and high-potential students a specialized multi-disciplinary curriculum in the first two years; a service project in the third year; and a research capstone in the fourth year. Emeriti program directors Jim Shackelford and Jay Mechling are challenging Integrated Studies, Davis Honors Challenge, and University Honors Program alumni to reconnect with your former classmates in anticipation of our 50th Anniversary of Honors at UC Davis by making a gift and sharing your favorite honors experience. If we receive 15 gifts, we will unlock a $3,000 directors’ pledge!
