Faculty experts explain the study of global tea culture and science

June 21, 2022 — From Turkey to Japan to many other countries, tea is a valuable product grown all over the world. Although true tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant, its sensitivity to its surrounding environment leads to many varieties. Currently, tea research is largely under the radar, which is why the UC Davis Global Tea Initiative (GTI) was founded.

2 Couples Honored With Soderquist Award

Carol and Gerry Parker and John and Lois Crowe, Ph.D. ’75 have been named the winners of UC Davis’ 2022 Charles J. Soderquist Award, and were honored Friday (May 6) at the first in-person celebration of the award in three years.

Class of ’68 gift welcomes all to campus

May 3, 2022 – On April 22, 2022, the newest structure on campus was revealed: the Class of 1968 Gateway, a seven-foot high, 54-foot long metal sculpture fabricated from Corten Steel with a stainless steel UC Davis wordmark and the University seal.

The class of 1968 had partnered with Campus Planning and Environmental Stewardship to create an iconic structure at the entrance of Howard Way and Russell Boulevard to enhance this entrance's welcoming environment and commemorate the campus's historic gateways. 

New Give Day Record: $4.1 Million

The UC Davis community welcomed Give Day back on campus with a roar Picnic Day weekend, contributing more than $4.1 million in 5,000-plus donations — crushing last year’s record of $3.4 million.

UC Davis Bohart Museum of Entomology receives $1 million gift

Bill Patterson, longtime butterfly collector and supporter of the University of California, Davis, is giving $1 million to the university’s R.M. Bohart Museum of Entomology to help maintain its permanent insect collection. This gift will provide the museum with the necessary financial security to support its ever-growing collection.
